While universities have been pioneering digital assessment in many situations for some time, Polytechnics, secondary schools and other educational institutions are increasingly following suit.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Digital exams and assessments, as opposed to paper and pencil, offer teachers a much better insight into the learning process and how students approach tasks in general. Learners also benefit from more engaging tests and, in many cases, quick feedback on their performance so they can act quickly to close knowledge gaps.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>How to conduct a reliable digital assessment?<\/div><div><strong>\u2022 Choosing the right assessment tool<\/strong><\/div><div>There are many forms of digital assessment, such as project-based assessment, performance-based activities, long essay tests, and other forms of assessment. Each of them serves a specific purpose. Selecting the appropriate assessment tool or approach is critical to performing the digital assessment reliably.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><strong>\u2022 Choosing the right objective to test<\/strong><\/div><div>Digital assessments should be used primarily to determine learning outcomes. Students should be able to demonstrate what they know and, more importantly, what they can achieve as learning outcomes (skills). A successfully implemented digital assessment should cover both low-level learning outcomes (retrieval of information) and high-level learning outcomes (analysis of information).<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>It is difficult to create excellent online digital assessments. We need to understand why we are doing an assessment. Learning outcomes and instructional activities need to be linked to assessments. Assessments need to be clearly articulated, comprehensively revised, and aligned with learning objectives and instructional activities. Most importantly, we need to use the right assessment tool to assess the appropriate skills.
